A Villain's Pregnancy
Chapter 1
════════════════════════════════════
Every novel had its spicy sauce—whether it was a fleeting tingle on the tongue or a lingering burn that lasted all day. I understood why such elements were necessary; they gave the story its flavor.
As long as I wasn't the sauce myself, I could enjoy it all I wanted. But now I was the sauce....sauce.
"Why did it have to be the villain?"
Tae Seo clenched his fists in resentment. It was absurd enough that he'd been sucked into a novel, but to be transmigrated into not just any character, but the actual villain—was beyond ridiculous.
Taeseo forcibly suppressed his churning emotions. He didn't have time to wallow in self-pity. His situation was already dire enough.
Originally, he was supposed to attend a party today to sabotage Seo Darae, the protagonist omega of this novel. His plan was to secretly drug Seo Darae, who was attending as the partner of Kang Inhyeok, the protagonist alpha, and force him into a heat cycle with another alpha.
This malicious scheme stemmed from Taeseo's jealousy, a beta who had always believed he would become an omega and that Kang Inhyeok would naturally be his destined partner. But for some reason, Taeseo never manifested as an omega, and in the meantime, Seo Darae had caught Kang Inhyeok's attention.
Feeling as though Kang Inhyeok, whom he had always considered his own, had been stolen by Seo Darae, Taeseo firmly established himself as the novel's villain. Moreover, according to the plot, Kang Inhyeok would rescue Seo Darae from the heat cycle induced by Taeseo's drug, solidifying their bond further.
Taeseo would have been grateful to hear even a simple "thank you" for bringing them closer, but instead, he was exposed for drugging Seo Darae and subjected to relentless torment. Witnessing Kang Inhyeok's complete infatuation with Seo Darae drove Taeseo mad, leading him to commit even greater atrocities. As befitting a villain's fate, he paid the price for tormenting the protagonist.
Therefore, the moment Taeseo transmigrated into this villain's body marked the irreversible beginning of his downfall.
"The drug... where did the champagne go?"
Tae Seo frantically scanned his surroundings. He had to dispose of the drugged drink at all costs. If he could just get rid of it and leave, he might still be able to avoid walking the villain's path. Ah, no. Actually, there were a few other incidents before this, but still...
As Taeseo busily scanned the party, his eyes landed on Seo Darae. With his petite, pale face, large eyes, cute round nose, full lips, and slender frame, he was instantly recognizable even without asking, "Are you Seo Darae?"
As a fellow classmate from the same university, Seo Darae was known for his gentle features and shy smile. His well-groomed, wavy brown hair further enhanced his endearing appearance.
"With a face like that, no wonder Kang Inhyeok is interested." Taeseo thought bitterly.
In contrast, Taeseo himself...
Taeseo looked at his face reflected in the glass window.
Jet-black hair, slightly tanned skin, and elongated, single-lidded eyes gave him a sinister look. His only redeeming features were his high nose bridge and neatly shaped lips. Overall, he had the handsome face of a beta.
With his beta-like appearance, devoid of any omega aura, and his surly demeanor, he was a stark contrast to Seo Darae. Moreover, at nearly 180 centimeters tall—a significant difference from Seo Darae's barely 170 centimeters height—he certainly didn't have the ideal physique for being held in someone's arms. Well, Taeseo couldn't be sure without seeing himself stripped bare, but even this height alone would be a turn-off.
Why am I even thinking about this?
Perhaps because Yun Taeseo naturally took such things for granted, the thought of being held by a man didn't feel awkward at all. In this world, it was perfectly normal, so assuming he would become an omega and wanting to be held by Kang Inhyeok must be natural too.
"Ah, this isn't the time for such thoughts."
Regardless of his current feelings, that was a matter for later. Right now, Tae Seo needed to ensure Seo Darae didn't drink the champagne laced with drugs.
As Taeseo walked through the crowded space, he kept his eyes fixed on Seo Darae. Kang Inhyeok had disappeared, leaving Seo Darae alone and visibly awkward. The champagne glass in his hand seemed to be his only lifeline, which he clutched tightly.
That's it.
Tae Seo's eyes gleamed as he glared at the champagne. At the same moment, Seo Darae slowly raised the glass to his lips.
"No!"
Seo Darae froze at Tae Seo's shout. In that instant, Tae Seo closed the distance and gripped the champagne glass, his hand wrapping around Seo Darae's.
"Phew."
Thank God I caught him before he drank it. Tae Seo let out a long sigh. His heart had been pounding so hard he felt like on the verge of collapsing.
"You..."
Seo Darae's eyes instantly turned sharp as he recognized Taeseo. The years of bullying piled up and made him wary.
"Why are you here?" Seo Darae demanded, his tone accusatory.
Tae Seo felt more relief than annoyance. The fact that he had stopped Seo Darae from drinking the champagne made everything else seem insignificant.
"To see you, of course," Tae Seo replied without thinking.
He had been furious about being transmigrated into the body of a villain at a party, but he knew he had to focus on the immediate crisis. He swallowed hard, forcing down his racing heart, when Seo Darae's incredulous response came back.
"Why? To take everything that's mine?"
"Yours? Ah..."
Taeseo looked at his hand, which was gripping Seo Darae's to prevent him from drinking the champagne. As a result, the two of them were now holding the glass together, but their reactions were starkly different.
"Inhyeok gave this to me," Seo Darae said.
"Yeah, I know."
It was Taeseo who had manipulated Kang Inhyeok into giving the champagne to Seo Darae. To be precise, this had happened before Taeseo's consciousness had transmigrated into this body.
"Do you hate everything Inhyeok gives me?"
"Not exactly... but strangely, I'm thirsty and I really want this champagne."
Tae Seo tried to take the glass and throw it away. Since it contained a drug that could trigger a heat cycle, he planned to dispose of it quietly. But Seo Darae tightened his grip and refused to let go.
"I will never give it to you."
"No, I'll give you something even better. I'll give you a whole bottle of champagne. Just give me this one, okay?"
"You think everything can be solved with money? Anyway, I don't like it."
Seo Darae tightened his grip, determined not to let go. Tae Seo sighed in exasperation at his stubbornness. He wanted to crush the fragile glass in his hand, but this was a party hosted by his parents, and he knew he shouldn't harass Seo Darae any further.
"Come on, just give it to me once. I'll give you everything, okay?"
"You still think I'd sell myself for money? Sorry, but I don't sell anything for money."
"Who said anything about selling? Ah... I did."
He had once insulted Seo Darae, whose family was poor, by telling him to sell his body.
"But that wasn't me! Ah, this is driving me crazy."
Frustrated, Taeseo pounded his chest. Why did I say such things? That Seo Darae's family is poor, and that he dares to target Kang Inhyeok despite his lowly status.
"I won't let you take anything away from me anymore," Seo Darae said, baring his teeth for the first time in a menacing display. It was like a rabbit showing its herbivorous teeth, but ignoring it would mean facing the tiger lurking behind him, ready to bare its fangs.
Yet Taeseo couldn't just hand over the champagne.
Caught in this awkward situation, Taeseo finally knelt on one knee. While Seo Darae was embarrassed from this unexpected behaviour, Taeseo brought the champagne glass to his lips and tilted it back, draining the contents in one smooth motion.
A drug to induce a heat cycle.
Since I'm a beta anyway, the drug probably won't work on me.
Taeseo tilted the glass and drained it, then straightened his bent leg and wiped the champagne that had trickled down his chin with the back of his hand.
"You... you're taking it this far?"
"I'll explain later, so don't be too upset about me drinking the champagne. Got it?"
Taeseo stood still for a moment before backing away from Seo Darae. He'd swallowed the drug because he couldn't find a chance to dispose of it, but hey, destroying the evidence wasn't a bad move either. Holding the empty glass, Tae Seo turned his back on Seo Darae, who couldn't hide his bewilderment, and immediately left the party.
Phew, that was a close call.
Recalling the earlier incident, Taeseo fanned his face to cool down. His heart pounded at the terrifying thought of what might have happened if Seo Darae had drunk the champagne.
"Now I need to go home and figure out what happened."
It would be ideal to find a way back to his original body immediately, but that seemed as impossible as the transmigration itself. If he hadn't possessed this body willingly, how could he possibly return?
"I should just focus on what's happening right now... sigh."
Whether it was from the champagne or the frantic movements, his body continued to burn with fever. His heart pounded relentlessly, showing no signs of calming down.
Tae Seo wiped the sweat from his jaw with the back of his hand.
"This is strange."
He should have calmed down by now, but his heart still raced and his fever persisted. Worse, his vision was starting to blur. Was the champagne stronger than he thought? Had he gotten drunk?
The world spun before his eyes, making it impossible to stand straight. Even his breath felt hot, and he exhaled deeply, desperate to expel some of the heat. But the more he exhaled, the more intense the heat became, until now...
"What's this now?"
Taeseo felt a tingling sensation in some part of his body and strained his blurred vision. Even so, he couldn't clearly see the man standing before him.
"Starting your heat cycle here? You've got some nerve. Or are you just begging anyone to pick you up?"
Tae Seo's head was buzzing, and the man's words came in disjointed fragments. As he lost all semblance of coherence, Taeseo reached out to the man.
"I... I need you to... pick me up."
No, not "pick me up"—help me.
